Being healthy is essential if you are undergoing any medical treatment. It becomes crucial if you are receiving brachytherapy and other cancer treatments in Singapore. After all, to increase the success rates of each procedure and reduce the risks of complications and side effects, you must strengthen your body through a healthy diet. However, there are also food groups to avoid:
Food that you should never eat when undergoing breast cancer treatment in Singapore:
1. High sodium/salty food
Salty food or food high in sodium spikes your blood pressure. Additionally, salt makes you bloat or retain more water in the body. Water retention could trigger issues during treatment. Avoid high sodium snacks and salt-cured food.
2. Fried food
Fried food is one of the most unhealthy food groups available today. Fried food contains tons of free radicals and helps the growth of cancer cells. Additionally, they are harder to digest. People receiving stomach cancer treatment would find the procedure more challenging.
3. Raw food
As much as possible, avoid eating raw food, such as shellfish, steak, and food with raw ingredients, like sushi.
One of the side effects of cervical or any cancer treatment in Singapore is a weak immune system. Raw food may contain bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms that could cause infection. The weak immune system may have difficulties fighting these infections.
4. Unpeeled food
Fruit and vegetable peelings are packed with fibre. Although fibre is good, it may be difficult for the patient to digest whilst undergoing brachytherapy in Singapore. Like raw food, the peelings may also contain infection-causing microorganisms.
5. Alcohol
Alcohol could aggravate the side effects of cancer treatment. Firstly, alcohol contains acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde interferes with the ability of the body to repair. Alcohol also damages tissues and causes inflammation.
We all know that alcohol impacts the liver. The liver also processes cancer drugs. The combination of alcohol and cancer drugs could cause liver inflammation.
Make sure to eat clean, cooked, and healthy food to guarantee the success of your cancer treatment.
