Exercises for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
There are three exercises that carpal tunnel syndrome patients in Singapore can do at home. Any of the exercises may be suggested for a condition or rehabilitation after surgery. However, you should ease off the exercise if there is any kind of pain. Consult with a hand specialist from a trusted Singapore clinic before starting any of these exercises.
Warm-up Stretches
- Rotate your wrist up, down and side to side four times.
- Repeatedly relax and stretch your fingers four times by spreading them apart.
- Gently pull your thumb back four times to stretch it. Hold and release at even intervals.
How to do the Exercises
You can do exercises to help prevent carpal tunnel syndrome in your Singapore home from coming back. Make sure your hand is fully healed after surgery before consulting at a Singapore rehabilitation clinic. Do not do any of these stretches or movements if it is uncomfortable or painful.
Prayer Stretch
- Begin by putting your hands together by your chest.
- Slowly pull your hands lower toward your waistline. Keep your hands close to your stomach until a mild or moderate stretch is felt under your forearms.
- Repeat both steps two to four times, holding the position for fifteen to thirty seconds each time.
Wrist Flexor Stretch
- With your palm up, extend your arm in front of you.
- Point your hand toward the floor and bend your wrist.
- Gently bend your wrist farther with your other hand. Do this until you feel a mild or moderate stretch in your forearm.
- Hold the position for at least fifteen to thirty seconds. Repeat the procedure two to four times.
Wrist Extensor Stretch
You will be doing the same steps as Wrist Flexor Stretch exercises. However, you will begin with your extended palm facing down.
