Did you accidentally bump into a glass door and hit your nose? Or did something heavy fall on your face and break your nose? If your nose's excruciatingly painful to touch, swells, and bleeds from the inside, then you will need to have it checked by an ENT doctor in a Singapore hospital. In case it happens to you or anyone you know, here are the things that you should do.

Stop the bleeding. Excessive loss of blood may increase the risks of unconsciousness. If that happens, an ear, nose, and throat specialist would have a hard time finding the fracture. You may sneeze all the blood coming from your nose. This way, it will help stop the blood and won’t form a blood clot. If there are medics nearby, call for assistance. They will provide you with temporary first aid and use ice packs to lessen the swelling.

Go through a facial x-ray and CT scan. An ENT doctor in Singapore or any hospital will suggest a physical exam to check your eyes, teeth and brain. Doctors will require you to take an x-ray and CT scan to check for other injuries aside from the fracture.

Schedule a consultation. Consult your diagnosis with an ear, nose, and throat specialist. They will determine if you need surgery or manual realignment. Either, you’ll be advised to wait 7-14 days after your injury, or when the swelling is gone.

Undergo treatment. Manual realignment is done within the 14 days since your fracture happened. A splint will be attached to ensure proper healing inside and outside of your nose. For severe cases untreated for more than 14, surgery is necessary.

A nasal fracture is a crack in your nose bones that often happens on one of the two bones forming your nose bridge. If you get a nasal fracture surgery or realignment, be extra delicate with the aftercare.
