How Wearing Invisalign Changed My Life?

· Dental Clinic,Braces Clinic,Singapore

Even though I heard some rumours that Invisalign is only for teens, I decided to get one. You see, I had issues with my bite and jaw. I started to notice it when I turned twenty. Back then, I thought it would go back to normal once I had my wisdom teeth removal, but I was mistaken. I was wrong. Nothing changed since then. Well, perhaps there is. My teeth started to shift more quickly than I expected. From then on, I become more conscious of my smile—I no longer show my teeth than I used to.

Some of you may tell me how dramatic I had become, but can you blame me when others look down on me? When you have an uneven bite and poorly aligned jaw, people around you will start to think of you differently. They will only notice your flaws and nothing more. That was what happened to me. As much as I hate the idea of wearing dental braces for 24/7 in Singapore, I have to. That way, no other people will look down on me other than myself. So, here, let me tell you what options I weighed to make such a decision as this.

Weighing my options

When I was growing up, teenagers my age wore dental braces in Singapore, but I wore nothing. Based on my memory, my parents told me that I do not have to wear one since my teeth look pretty the way it is. So, I trusted them. I believed what they said was the truth. However, when I turned twenty, my pretty looking smile slowly became a thing of the past. Like what I have mentioned above, my bite and jaw become uneven. As much as I do not want to wear one, I still did. I want to bring back those pretty looking smiles that I had.

Before I could wear one, there are a lot of things I have considered other than the price of braces in Singapore. Here are just a few that you need to know.

  • Too expensive.

The truth is, it was not that expensive than I expected. Somehow, both braces have the same price in Singapore. So, when I asked my dentist which one suits me, she said it depends on my teeth. Even though I love to get an Invisalign, it is not something I could decide, but my teeth.

Nevertheless, they told me that Invisalign is something the suits my teeth condition.

  • Not as effective.

When I first heard about this one, I became more hesitant and indecisive of my decision. You see, getting braces is not cheap that anyone could spend. So, to make sure what I am going to do was the right thing, I asked a lot of people whether they are not as effective as the rumours say. Fortunately, those were fake news. Wearing Invisalign is indeed much more effective if you follow your dentist's orders.

  • Health insurance doesn't cover it.

I thought so too, but some health insurance does cover it, especially when it is medically necessary. Well, in my case, I have gone through a lot of trials to convince my health insurance that I needed to wear this apparatus on my teeth. Thankfully, it went well. My health insurance decided to cover a few parts of it, and I will pay for the rest on my out pocket expense.

  • Too old to try

Since most promotions are for teenagers, I thought Invisalign was only for teens. However, when I went to my dentist, she said I could still wear one. My age does not disqualify me. I was happy to hear that I am not too old to wear dental braces!

  • Too much maintenance

No, it does not have too much maintenance. The truth is, you will do the same thing as when you wear traditional braces. Here, what it feels like to wear an Invisalign.

  • It hurt but much less than traditional braces. When I first wore it, I got a few canker sores. I had a hard time taking and eating, but it gets better once you become more accustomed to wearing it.

  • There will be lisp when you talk. Yes, there will be. A lot of people I know had a hard time having a conversation with me when I first wore these. Thank goodness, it only happened in a few months or when I got mine adjusted.

  • My dentists said I have to say goodbye to your favourite snacks since it would only make me suffer when I have to clean it later. That same goes for my drinks. Because of those restrictions, somehow I lost some weight, and I am thankful for that.

But in the end, they are worth it! So, if you ever need to wear dental braces in Singapore, go for it. However, make sure to ask your dentist first. In my case, I sought MyBracesClinic whether I need one or not. Well, thanks to them, I was able to have this pretty looking smile again.
